| | | | What is CIP? | | | | | | CIP stands for Classification of Instructional Programs. This is a coding system developed by the United States Department of Education to provide an ordered classification system for the accurate tracking and reporting of fields of study and program completions activity. The CIP is the accepted federal government statistical standard on instructional program classifications and is used in a variety of education information surveys and databases. It is used by federal agencies, state agencies, national associations, academic institutions and employment counseling services as the basis for collecting, reporting and analyzing instructional program data. Six-digit CIP codes are at the most detailed level and represent specific instructional programs. For more information and a listing of current CIP codes, go to the link below.
